The 2024 Baseball Writers’ Association (BBWAA) Awards season wrapped up with a number of powerhouse winners, including Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani and New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge taking home MVP honors in their respective leagues.
Judge and Ohtani were both selected in unanimous fashion, the second consecutive season in which both league winners were the clear winners.
Ohtani joined Frank Robinson as the only two players in Major League history to win an MVP Award in both the NL and the American League. He also became the 12th player in MLB history to capture their third MVP Award.
Overall, the MVP is one of four awards handed out every year by the BBWAA, including the Cy Young, Rookie of the Year and Manager of the Year. All ballots were submitted prior to the start of the Major League Baseball postseason, with two writers representing each city from both leagues.
