Dodgers Injury News: Corey Seager Avoided Damage To Hamstring But Uncertain If He’ll Miss Time

In addition to signing Joe Kelly and A.J. Pollock during the offseason, the Los Angeles Dodgers championed adding Corey Seager back to the lineup this year. He appeared in just 26 games last season before undergoing Tommy John surgery.

While recovering from that, Seager had an arthroscopic hip procedure. He was active at the start of Spring Training but eased along the final stages of the rehab process. Seager was in the lineup on Opening Day but has admittedly struggled to find a rhythm.

He reached in all three plate appearances of Thursday loss to the St. Louis Cardinals, though was removed after four innings because of a left hamstring contusion.

While examination of the area brought positive news, Seager wasn’t certain if he would need to miss time, per Pedro Moura of The Athletic:

Corey Seager said an ultrasound on his bruised left hamstring did not show damage. It doesn’t sound like he’ll miss much time. “But I guess we’ll see how the flight goes and everything,” he said.

Seager took a curveball off the back of his leg and initially remained in the game. However, he was in clear discomfort while at first base and gingerly walked toward the dugout when Pollock grounded out to end the inning.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts indicated Seager was already improved after receiving treatment on his hamstring upon coming out of the game. The Dodgers are in the midst of play 17 consecutive games, with 10 more days to go.
