The Los Angeles Dodgers begin their final homestand of the 2024 season with a matchup against the Colorado Rockies for a three-game set.

Ryan Brasier is on the mound to open the game, but the Dodgers will be utilizing a bullpen game. Ben Casparius is joining the roster to either fill a bulk role in the game or take down an inning or two, depending on how things play out.

Brasier has previously opened two games for the Dodgers, allowing no runs on one hit with one strikeout and no walks in two innings. Overall on the season, he owns a 3.60 ERA and 3.69 FIP in 25 innings with a 19.4% strikeout rate and 4.1% walk rate.

Casparius threw 67 innings with a 3.36 ERA and 4.18 FIP while striking out 9.67 hitters per nine and walking 4.70 per nine with Triple-A Oklahoma City before being recalled. He’s now in his third stint with the team and made his MLB debut last month when he tossed a perfect inning while recording the win.

The Rockies give the ball to Kyle Freeland, who is in his eighth season with Colorado. The southpaw has pitched to a 4.89 ERA and 4.41 FIP over 103 innings this year while striking out 17.9% of hitters and walking 5.7%.

In three September starts, Freeland has pitched to a 2.00 ERA in 18 innings and he’s coming off what was tied for his longest outing of the season with seven innings pitched allowing three runs against the Chicago Cubs.

The southpaw owns a career 4.44 ERA and 4.58 FIP over 1,087.1 innings.

The Dodgers are giving Tommy Edman a day off while Andy Pages was inserted into the lineup in center field. Gavin Lux also continues to sit against left-handed pitching with Kiké Hernández getting the start.

L.A. has the No. 2 offense in baseball against left-handed pitching this season, hitting .266/.336/.454 with a 120 wRC+.
