Nothing went right for the Los Angeles Dodgers as they were blown out by the Atlanta Braves in a 10-1 loss.
It was another day the Dodgers’ starting pitcher just didn’t have it against the Braves. After Landon Knack turned in his worst outing on Friday, Jack Flaherty followed with his worst outing on Saturday.
The Braves took a first inning lead for the second straight day when Matt Olson dobuled home Michael Harris II.
In the third, the Braves started to break it open. A double from Jorge Soler, walk from Marcell Ozuna and walk to Jarred Kelenic loaded the bases before Orlando Arcia doubled to clear the bases, making it a 4-1 game.
Flaherty walked another after that, but ended up stranding the pair of runners. That ended Flaherty’s night, marking his shortest outing of the season with just three innings pitched.
He also walked a season-high four hitters while allowing five hits and striking out four.
After Alex Vesia pitched two scoreless innings, Evan Phillips entered, and things went from bad to worse for the Dodgers.
The first three hitters reached base against Phillips, which made it a 5-1 game. A sacrifice fly from Harris drove in another run.
Soler doubled and Ozuna walked to put two more runners on base before Ryan Brasier came in to replace Phillips. However, he was greeted by a double from Olson that made it a 9-1 game.
Just for good measure, Sean Murphy also hit a sac fly to make it 10-1.
The Dodgers ended up having Miguel Rojas pitch the seventh and Kiké Hernández pitch the eighth. Chris Taylor ended up robbing a home run in the eighth inning to prevent the Braves from scoring again/
Dodgers offense quiet in loss
The Dodgers scored their only run in the second inning. Kiké Hernández hit a one-out double and Mookie Betts drove him in with a two-out softly-hit single to center field.
Chris Sale held the Dodgers in check throughout the game. The left-hander pitched six innings, giving up just the one run allowed on five hits while walking two and striking out six.
The Atlanta bullpen also shut them down, throwing three scoreless innings.
