The Los Angeles Dodgers blew a lead late in the game as Daniel Hudson allowed three runs to score in the eighth inning, resulting in a 6-4 loss.

Jack Flaherty started the game off poorly in the first inning, and it looked like things would get out of control fairly quickly.

He allowed a leadoff double, which was followed by a home run that put the Brewers up 2-0 before Flaherty even recorded an out. That came against the next batter when he got a strikeout, but that was followed by another home run.

After that, Flaherty settled in and retired five straight hitters before a walk to start the third. He then went on a stretch of retiring seven straight before a walk with two outs started a potential Brewers’ rally.

A single and stolen bases put two runners in scoring position, but Flaherty ended up striking out the final hitter he faced to end the threat.

That ended Flaherty’s day as he completed five innings, allowing three runs on four hits with seven strikeouts and two walks. All-in-all, a solid performance considering what could have been after that first inning.

The Dodgers answered the Brewers’ scoring in the second inning after Gavin Lux started them off with a single and Miguel Rojas reached on a fielder’s choice. Jason Heyward grounded out to put the Dodgers on the board before Andy Pages doubled home the second run.

With two outs in the third inning, the Dodgers strung a rally together with three-straight singles from Freddie Freeman, Will Smith and Gavin Lux. That gave the Dodgers their 68th two-out RBI since July 12, the most in MLB over that stretch.

That tie score remained until the sixth inning. Lux worked a walk, Rojas singled and Kiké Hernández drove home the go-ahead run with another two-out RBI single.

The Brewers loaded the bases in the eighth against Hudson with a double, walk and single before another single tied the game. Two RBI groundouts gave them the lead and an insurance run.

Hudson entered the game as the Dodgers most consistent reliever all year, but ended up taking the loss.

Michael Kopech continues hot stretch for Dodgers

Michael Kopech was tasked with getting the heart of the Brewers’ lineup in the sixth inning, and he pitched a perfect frame while picking up a strikeout. He continues to impress in the Dodgers bullpen and has earned high-leverage oppotunities.
