The Los Angeles Dodgers clinched a series win against the Pittsburgh Pirates but lost River Ryan in the process to a right forearm injury.
Ryan was removed in the fifth inning due to what the team has initially deemed right forearm tightness. He’s scheduled to undergo an MRI on Sunday and will be placed on the 15-day injured list with Landon Knack getting recalled.
Prior to coming out of the game because of the injury, Ryan showed off his shortstop roots by making a nice play on a softly-hit ball up the third-base line for the first out of the night.
That helped set the tone for the Dodgers, and Gavin Lux added onto it with an RBI double in the bottom of the first inning.

Lux then hit a two-run single that extended the Dodgers’ lead to 3-0 in the third inning. They created more separation in the fifth inning on a solo home run from Teoscar Hernández.
It's nice to have one of the best defenders ever on your team because you get highlights like this all the time.

The four runs the Dodgers scored against Paul Skenes represented the most he’s allowed in a start this season. The Pirates’ rookie went into the outing having given up three runs twice in his previous 14 starts.
Although the Dodgers managed to have success against Skenes, he still finished with eight strikeouts, which tied for third-most in a start.
Dodgers health report
While Ryan is the latest Dodgers injury, the team is poised to welcome back Mookie Betts on Monday and Walker Buehler on Wednesday. Max Muncy, Tommy Edman and Ryan Brasier are all expected to be activated later in the week.
