The Los Angeles Dodgers got back in the win column with a 10-0 blowout victory over the Oakland Athletics, receiving contributions on both sides of the ball from Kiké Hernández.
Hernández had a big game at the plate as he went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and one walk. He also recorded the final three outs on the mound in what marked a second pitching appearance of the season.
Hernández retired the first two batters faced on two pitches before stranding a single to wrap up the Dodgers’ win.
According to STATS, Hernández became the first player in the Modern Era (since 1901) of MLB history to have at least three hits and pitch in a shutout victory.

Hernández has largely struggled this season but is still finding ways to provide value to the Dodgers. Including his two appearances as a pitcher, he has played at seven different positions in 2024.
Hernández previously threw 1.1 innings against the Philadelphia Phillies on July 9. Hernández also faced the Phillies in his first career pitching appearance during the 2018 season.
At the plate, Hernández entered Sunday hitting just .208/.277/.321 with nine doubles, six home runs and 21 RBI in 84 games. However, he is batting a more respectable .230/.309/.377 over his last 20 games (16 starts) and has enjoyed a particularly hot series against the A’s.
Kiké Hernández bobblehead night record
Hernández’s bobblehead night on July 24 at Dodger Stadium drew an attendance of 54,070, which not only is the largest crowd for a Dodgers game this year, but an MLB high as well.
