The Los Angeles Dodgers played their first game at Dodger Stadium on April 10, 1962, which was after playing four years at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

Dodger Stadium history includes hosting multiple All-Star Games, World Series, concerts, and players accomplishing rare feats. In total, five different players have ever hit a home run out of Dodger Stadium.

The list is comprised of Willie Stargell, who accomplished the feat twice (1969, 1973); Mike Piazza (1997); Mark McGwire (1999); Giancarlo Stanton (2015) and Fernando Tatís Jr. (2021).

Shohei Ohtani nearly added his name to the rare group during the 2024 season with a 473-foot home run that almost went over the pavilion in right-center field.

Longest home runs in Dodger Stadium history

Willie Stargell, 506 feet, 6 inches

Stargell’s first time hitting a ball out of Dodger Stadium came on Aug. 5, 1965. It was his most majestic blast as he sent a pitch from Alan Foster over the right-field pavilion that traveled an estimated 506 feet and six inches.

Mark McGwire, 483 feet

Another player to hit a ball out of Dodger Stadium is former St. Louis Cardinals slugger Mark McGwire. As part of a 3-for-4 effort on May 22, 1999, McGwire ended the night with a towering 483 foot home run off Jamie Arnold that cleared the left-center field pavilion.

Mike Piazza, 478 feet

The only Dodger to hit a ball out of Dodger Stadium to this day remains Mike Piazza. The Hall of Famer accomplished this feat on Sept. 21, 1997, sending a pitch from Colorado Rockies starter Frank Castillo over the left-field pavilion that traveled an estimated 478 feet.

Giancarlo Stanton, 475 feet

Stanton, then of the Miami Marlins, sent a pitch from Mike Bolsinger over the left-field pavilion that traveled an estimated 475 feet on May 12, 2015.

Honorable mention: Shohei Ohtani

With the Dodgers playing in front of a national audience for ESPN Sunday Night Baseball on July 21, 2024, Ohtani hit a home run that traveled 473 feet and had an exit velocity of 116.7 mph.

Honorable mention: Fernando Tatis Jr.

San Diego Padres All-Star Fernando Tatis Jr. became the fifth player to hit a ball out of Dodger Stadium on Sept. 30, 2021, when he crushed a pitch off Tony Gonsolin that traveled 467 feet.
