The 2025 Los Angeles Dodgers schedule begins with the Tokyo Series, presented by Guggenheim, for a two-game matchup against the Chicago Cubs on March 18 and 19. The games are taking place at the Tokyo Dome.
It represents a second consecutive season the Dodgers are beginning internationally as they opened 2024 with the Seoul Series against the San Diego Padres.
That came with plenty of anticipation but it figures to pale in comparison to the Cubs and Dodgers playing at the Tokyo Dome, as the series will feature Japan natives Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Shota Imanaga and Seiya Suzuki.
The 2025 season is going to be a sixth time an MLB season starts in Tokyo and it coincides with the 25th anniversary of the league’s first regular season game played in Japan, which was between the Cubs and New York Mets.
MLB’s forthcoming visit to Tokyo is their first since the Seattle Mariners and Oakland Athletics played at the Tokyo Dome to for Opening Day of the 2019 season.
Meanwhile, the 2025 Dodgers schedule resumes with the Dodger Stadium opener on March 27 for the start of a three-game Interleague series against the Detroit Tigers. Traditional MLB Opening Day on March 27 is the earliest in league history, excluding international season openers.
MLB’s balanced schedule remains in effect for the third consecutive season, which amounts to the Dodgers schedule for 2025 again including matchups all other 29 opposing teams.
But there is a slight adjustment for 2025 with the number of Interleague games increasing from 46 to 48. That’s achieved by playing the “prime rivals” from the opposite league for two separate three-game series instead of sets of two-game matchups.
Separately, for MLB’s “Rivalry Weekend” from May 16-18, the Dodgers are facing the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field.
The 2025 MLB All-Star Game at Truist Park is on July 15. It marks the ballpark’s first time hosting the Midsummer Classic and third overall by the Braves during their franchise history in Atlanta.
The final day of the 2025 regular season is Sunday, Sept. 28, which has the Dodgers concluding a three-game road series with the Seattle Mariners.
