Phase 2 of 2024 MLB All-Star Game voting opened Sunday morning at 9 a.m. PT, which is available exclusively online and via mobile devices at MLB.com/vote.
Fans will also have an opportunity to vote among the finalists at each position on all 30 club sites, the MLB App and MLB Ballpark App. Phase 2 voting concludes at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3.
Later that night, the winners will be announced at 4:00 p.m. on ESPN during an All-Star Game starters reveal live show.
The Los Angeles Dodgers had Mookie Betts, Shohei Ohtani and Teoscar Hernández advance to the second round of voting.
While Betts remains eligible to be voted in as the starting National League shortstop, he’s going to miss the Midsummer Classic because of a left hand fracture.
Meanwhile, Ohtani (designated hitter) and Hernández (outfield) are on track to be voted 2024 All-Star Game starters.
Betts received 2,425,030 votes during Phase 1, giving him a comfortable lead over former Dodgers shortstop Trea Turner (1,878,159). Ohtani held a sizable advantage over Turner’s now-Philadelphia Phillies teammate Kyle Schwarber (2,777,173 to 1,508,216).
Hernández earned 2,134,971 votes during the first round, which was third-most among NL outfielders (Jurickson Profar, 2,559,897; Christian Yelich, 2,307,430). However, Fernando Tatis Jr. finished right behind Hernández with 2,054,316 votes and could potentially catch him in Phase 2.
Dodgers who missed Phase 2 of MLB All-Star Game voting
Will Smith did not advance to Phase 2 as he finished third in voting among NL catchers. Freddie Freeman placed second among first basemen and normally would have made it to Phase 2, but the Phillies’ Bryce Harper was guaranteed a starting spot after leading all NL players in votes during the first round.
Harper was placed on the 10-day injured list last week with a left hamstring strain, which could potentially open the door for Freeman to start at first base. However, the injury is considered mild and Harper could return to action as soon as next week.
Freeman and Smith still figure to make the NL All-Star team by way of player voting, as well as several Dodgers pitchers.
The 2024 MLB All-Star Game will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Globe Life Field. Fox is going to exclusively broadcast the 94th Midsummer Classic from Arlington, Texas.
