With the Los Angeles Dodgers playing their penultimate game of 2019 Spring Training, SportsNet LA added to their unrivaled access with the team by giving a microphone and ear piece to third base coach Dino Ebel during Monday’s game against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
That connected him with the broadcast booth, allowing Joe Davis and Orel Hershiser to engage with Ebel during stretches of play. After multiple innings of casual conversations and gleaning some insight, the booth turned matters over to the Dodgers’ third base coach.
Ebel chronicled several facets of his job as the Dodgers loaded the bases in what amounted to a five-run seventh inning in their comeback win. His insight became the stuff of legend on social media, and the Dodgers shared the extended segment for consumption.

Ebel replaced Chris Woodward, who was hired by the Texas Rangers as manager over the offseason. While Woodward had a strong reputation in the clubhouse, Ebel has quickly acclimated and earned plenty of praise himself.
In joining Dodgers manager Dave Roberts’ staff, Ebel returned to the organization he played for and served as a Minor League coach and manager in.
