FOCO Selling Paul Skenes Vs. Shohei Ohtani Dual Bobblehead

FOCO released a limited-edition bobblehead of Pittsburgh Pirates rookie Paul Skenes and Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani.

The dual bobblehead has Skenes and Ohtani in respective action poses — Skenes pitching and Ohtani hitting — and positioned in front of team-colored backdrops and on top of a base with stadium and baseball accents. The bobblehead is limited to 100 units and won’t be restocked once it sell outs.

On the backdrop are text displays of “STEEL CITY SHO DOWN” and “EAST VS. WEST” to further highlight the matchup of Skenes facing Ohtani.

The impressive rookie fireballer got the better of Ohtani in the first inning by striking him out on three pitches. Each of them was at least 100 mph and induced a whiff.

It marked the first time a starter got a strikeout on three pitches that were all a minimum of 100 mph and whiffed on during the pitching tracking era (since 2008).

Ohtani bounced back in the third inning as he launched a 415-foot two-run home run to center field that hit off the batter’s eye. Ohtani hit a 100.1 mph fastball from Skenes that he sent out with a 105.6 mph exit velocity.

It was the fastest pitch Ohtani has ever homered off of in his career.

Ohtani singled in the fifth inning and the Dodgers went on to load the bases but Skenes worked out of the jam.

Paul Skenes overpowers Dodgers

Skenes finished with eight strikeouts and three runs allowed on six hits, two of which were homers. The Dodgers’ success against the right-hander was largely tied to Ohtani and Andy Pages hitting home runs, and Jason Heyward connecting on two of his three doubles in the game.

Skenes otherwise benefitted from a Dodgers lineup that has struggled throughout the season to hit high fastball velocity.
