Gavin Lux: ‘Just A Matter Of Time’ Until Dodgers’ Offense Breaks Out

The Los Angeles Dodgers are in the midst of their worst losing streak since 2019 as their offense has been unable to find a rhythm, leading to five consecutive losses.

While being swept by the Cincinnati Reds, the Dodgers were 4-for-27 with runners in scoring position during the series.

Three of those hits came in the series opener and one in the ninth inning of the finale with an 0-for-22 stretch in the middle.

The stretch of poor offense also goes back longer than that as they have averaged just 3.5 runs per game over their last 17 games.

Despite their recent issues, Gavin Lux is confident the Dodgers’ offense will get back on track, he said via Bill Plunkett of the Southern California News Group:

“I’d expect us to be better than what we are right now,” Dodgers second baseman Gavin Lux said. “But like I said, it’s baseball. Still a really good lineup and we know it’s gonna flip. But yeah I think we all expect more out of ourselves and I think everyone does. We’ll get it going. Just a matter of time.”

One primary issues for the Dodgers’ offense has been their struggles against the fastball, which are generally the pitch batters look to hunt and take advantage of. The hitters are aware of this issue, and it’s something they are looking to correct:

“You look at all the advance stats, it’s no secret,” Lux said. “It’s still a really good group, really good lineup and it’s just one of those runs where we’re just not really clicking, not getting hits in scoring position. All of us. So it’s just a long season,

“We know it’s gonna flip. We just gotta make it happen.”

Even with their current slump, the Dodgers are still second in MLB in total runs scored with 270, and their offense has the second highest wOBA at .333 and wRC+ and 119.

They are sixth in batting average (.253) and third in on-base percentage (.333) and slugging percentage (.426) as a team, showing the offense has still been good overall.

While it’s a frustrating stretch for the Dodgers, it’s important to look at what they’ve done compared to the rest of MLB and recognize they’ve still been a very good group.

Every team is going to go through a rough stretch, but for the Dodgers it’s more pronounced because of the talent they have.

Mookie Betts wants the Dodgers to ‘keep going’

Mookie Betts has been one of the only players to continue swinging a hot bat during the Dodgers’ losing streak as he is 6-for-15 over his last four games.

Betts recently said that the team has to keep looking forward and figure out a way to get back on track.
