The Los Angeles Dodgers encountered more inclement weather on their road trip as their series opener against the New York Mets was postponed and rescheduled as part of a straight doubleheader at Citi Field on Tuesday.
The first game of the Mets doubleheader is starting at 1:10 p.m. PT. The nightcap is due to follow approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the afternoon affair, but no earlier than 4:10 p.m. PT. The Dodgers are looking to snap a season-worst five-game losing streak.
Tyler Glasnow is scheduled to start the afternoon game. Gavin Stone, who was due to pitch in the Memorial Day matchup, is getting the ball in the second game of the doubleheader.
Tylor Megill, who was scheduled to start Monday, is now lined up to face Glasnow. The Dodgers then will see Jose Quintana to finish off the day.
Glasnow is 6-3 with a 3.09 ERA and 0.91 WHIP across 11 starts so far this season. He’s struggled a bit in back-to-back outings, completing just five innings in both starts and allowing a combined seven runs.
“I just think I was late, not moving as efficiently as the first four (innings),” Glasnow said after taking a loss against the Arizona Diamondbacks. “Was just late on a lot of stuff and it was spinning over the middle of the zone,” Glasnow said after the game.
Stone is 4-2 with a 3.60 ERA and 1.30 WHIP in nine starts. The right-hander had allowed two earned runs or fewer in six consecutive starts before struggling last week in his outing against the Diamondbacks.
Despite allowing four runs, Stone did manage to provide the Dodgers with length by going six innings. It marked a fifth consecutive start he pitched at least that many.
Dodgers rain delays
There now have been seven instances a Dodgers game has been delayed, rescheduled or otherwise impacted this season.
March 30: The Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals played four innings before a rare Dodger Stadium rain delay began. It lasted just 35 minutes before play resumed.
April 7: While facing the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field, the game was paused nearly three hours because of rain. The Dodgers went on to suffer an 8-1 loss.
April 13: Dodger Stadium experienced another rain delay when first pitch against the San Diego Padres was two hours and 51 minutes later than the originally scheduled start time.
April 14: The Padres and Dodgers were delayed at Dodger Stadium once again, though first pitch came just 36 minutes later than planned.
April 30: A colony of bees gathered behind home plate at Chase Field. First pitch against the Arizona Diamondbacks was delayed nearly two hours.
May 26: Series finale against the Reds was moved up 90 minutes for a 9:10 a.m. PT start due to expected inclement weather, which wound up causing a delay of one hour and nine minutes anyhow.
