The Los Angeles Dodgers offense struggled for much of the game, but with the help of their pitching, they took the game to extra innings, where Shohei Ohtani hit his first walk-off as a member of the team.

Hunter Greene kept the Dodgers offense in check for most of the day as he finished his outing with 6.1 innings pitched, allowing two runs on four hits with two walks and eight strikeouts.

The Dodgers scored their only runs off Greene when Andy Pages launched a two-run home run in the fourth inning, following a single from Freddie Freeman.

It was his first home run since May 4 against the Atlanta Braves, and his fifth overall on the season. Pages now has hits in four straight games.

Landon Knack made the start after being recalled earlier in the day and turned in an overall solid outing. He pitched 4.2 innings, allowing one run on three hits with one walk and five strikeouts.

The lone run he allowed came in the fifth inning when Stuart Fairchild and Santiago Espinal hit back-to-back doubles, cutting the Dodgers’ lead to one run.

Following Knack, Ryan Yarbrough entered, and he ran into some trouble in the seventh after giving up a leadoff walk, and then making a throwing error that put two runners in scoring position.

Yarbrough retired the next hitter, but Dodgers manager Dave Roberts opted to walk the bases loaded and go to the bullpen, calling on Alex Vesia.

It didn’t work out as intended as Vesia walked Spencer Steeer, who was pinch-hitting, which tied the game. However, that was all the Reds scored as Vesia retired the next two hitters.

The game remained tied and went to extra innings, where Anthony Banda made his Dodgers debut and worked a scoreless 10th inning. With two outs in the bottom half of the inning, Ohtani singled to right field, scoring the winning run.

It was Ohtani’s second career walk-off hit, and first in four years.

The Dodgers ended up taking three of four games from the Reds to win the series.

What’s next for the Dodgers

The Dodgers now host the Arizona Diamondbacks for a three-game series with Yoshinobu Yamamoto scheduled to face Slade Cecconi in the opener. Gavin Stone is slated for the second game, while Tyler Glasnow is set to pitch the series finale.

They’ll face off against Brandon Pfaadt and Ryne Nelson, respectively.
