A potential National League Championship Series matchup ended with the Los Angeles Dodgers sweeping the Atlanta Braves backed by three home runs and a great pitching performance in a 5-1 victory.
Shohei Ohtani put the Dodgers up 2-0 in the first inning with a home run that drove in Mookie Betts. It was Ohtani’s ninth homer of the year as he continued to expand on his lead over Dave Roberts in the Dodgers’ record books.
Both offenses were quiet for the next few innings, but Teoscar Hernández blasted his eighth home run of the season in the bottom of the sixth inning, doubling the lead with a two-run homer that drove in Freddie Freeman.
Shohei is just showing off now that he passed Roberts for the #Dodgers record.

The Braves answered back with a solo home run from Marcell Ozuna in the seventh inning, and that was all they were to score in the game.
Just for good measure, Ohtani hit one more home run in the eighth inning. It was an absolute no-doubter that traveled 464 feet and left the bat at 110.6 mph.
That was the third longest home run in MLB this season, and it marked Ohtani’s first multi-home run game with the Dodgers. He now has 10 on the season.
James Paxton turns in best start for Dodgers
James Paxton has struggled to control his pitches this season, walking more than seven hitters per nine innings, but he turned it around on Sunday and it led to a tremendous outing.
The Big Maple pitched 6.2 innings while only allowing one run on five hits. He limited the Braves to two walks and struck out three.
Following Paxton, the Dodgers used three relievers, including Blake Treinen, who was back on the mound for the first time since 2022. Treinen worked a scoreless frame, striking out one with a nasty slider.
