Dodgers News: Freddie Freeman Has ‘Everything’ Working At The Plate

Freddie Freeman was mired in a slump for most of the 2024 season, but finally appears to have found a rhythm at the plate. The seven-time All-Star is in the midst of a hot streak and has been key to the Los Angeles Dodgers’ recent success.

Since April 20, Freeman is batting .400/.522/.629 with a 219 wRC+ across 46 plate appearances. Perhaps not so coincidentally, the Dodgers are 7-3 during the stretch.

Freeman has been working hard to get back on track and is pleased with his results over his last 10 games, via Jack Harris of the L.A. Times:

“Everything’s kind of been working,” Freeman said. “Just been kind of doing really really slow, soft swings in BP, and then let the adrenaline of the game take the swing a little bit harder. Things the last week have been a lot better.”

Freeman recently started taking batting practice on the field before games, which isn’t common for the 15-year veteran. “Luckily, I’ve been around a long time, I’ve been through stuff like this before,” Freeman said.

“In 2021 it was a lot worse than this when I started out. You guy have seen me strike out seven straight times in the playoffs against the Dodgers,” Freeman recalled.

“Had some low moments, but all you can do is come in the next day and work. And you’ll see a new thing tomorrow, I’ll be hitting BP on the field for a day game.”

Freddie Freeman enjoyed ‘special’ visit to Toronto

Freeman was born in Southern California, but has ties to Canada due to his mother and father being from the country. This connection has allowed Freeman to play for Team Canada in the World Baseball Classic.

Freeman’s mother passed away due to melanoma in 2000, and the Dodgers’ recent visit to Toronto gave him an opportunity to return to the city in which she was born.
