The Los Angeles Dodgers were unable to stop the San Diego Padres from walking in L.A. as they dropped the game by a score of 6-3 and losing the series.

The Dodgers pitching staff could not find the strike zone all night as they walked 14 Padres hitters. It was the fourth time in franchise history they’ve hit that mark in a single game, and the first time in 62 years.

James Paxton led the way with eight free passes, setting his career-high and the most a pitcher has allowed in a game this season.

Despite the walk issues, Paxton was able to pitch five innings of one-run ball, only allowing a solo home run to Manny Machado. He was in jams for much of the game, but kept working out of them.

During that time, the Dodgers were able to take a 3-1 lead thanks to an RBI single from Will Smith and a two-run homer from Max Muncy.

Paxton went back out for the sixth inning and walked the first two batters he faced. Following that, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts called on Ryan Brasier, who walked the first batter he saw.

Brasier recorded a double play that allowed the Padres to move to within one run, and they tied it up on a single from Jackson Merrill.

J.P. Feyereisen was given the seventh inning in a tie game, and he walked two hitters as well, while also giving up a single to Fernando Tatís Jr. With the bases loaded, Jurickson Profar cleared them with a double off the wall that gave the Padres a 6-3 lead.

Alex Vesia was able to get out of the seventh without allowing another run, but he added to the walk total with one of his own. Vesia walked another in the 8th, but worked a scoreless frame.

Nick Ramirez made his Dodgers’ debut in the 9th, and he fit right in with his new club as he walked a hitter. However, he was able to pitch a scoreless frame.

Brasier and Ramirez were the only Dodgers’ pitcher to not walk at least two hitters in the game.

The Dodgers’ offense was unable to work their way back into the game and left four runners on base, going 1-for-4 with runners in scoring position.

Dodgers produce solid results against Yu Darvish

The Dodgers have historically struggled against Yu Darvish, but they were able to score three runs against him in five innings. Darvish also walked two hitters and struck out two while giving up four hits.

Shohei Ohtani had both of the Dodgers’ strikeouts against Darvish.
