The Los Angeles Dodgers announced a multi-year sponsorship agreement with Kowa Company Ltd. to make them the team’s official Japanese topical pain relief product.
As part of the arrangement, Kowa will have signage behind home plate at Dodger Stadium and Camelback Ranch. Furthermore, Kowa is now the presenting sponsor for the Shohei Othani giveaway at Dodger Stadium on July 22.
“We are excited to welcome Kowa to the Dodgers’ partnership family,” Dodgers executive vice president and chief marketing officer Lon Rosen said in a statement.
“As a highly regarded global leader in multiple industries and endeavors, Kowa has achieved a standard with which we are proud to gain association. We look forward to promoting the company’s name and products all year to Dodger fans and celebrating the company on a giveaway night this season.”
Kowa Company, Ltd. was founded in 1894 as a cotton cloth wholesaler with a history that spans more than 100 years. It is the core company of the Kowa Group, which operates as a trading company that imports and exports textiles, machinery and construction materials, and the other is as a manufacturer of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, vision units and energy-saving and energy-creating solutions.
“Kowa Company is honored to have formed a partnership with the Los Angeles Dodgers, one of the oldest and most successful teams in Major League Baseball,” Kowa Company, Ltd. said in statement.
“Kowa and the Dodgers, both over 125 years old, share a rich tradition of excellence and outstanding accomplishments. Kowa’s focus on ‘Health and Environment’ with people’s happiness in mind, corresponds well with the excitement and pride that the Dodgers deliver to their passionate fans day in and day out, year after year.
“Kowa looks forward to a mutually beneficial partnership with the Dodgers and will support the Dodgers every step of the way on their quest to win the World Series.”
Dodgers sponsorships with Japanese companies
The agreement with Kowa Company, Ltd. is the third sponsorship agreement the Dodgers have reached with a Japanese-based company in the past week.
Their first was another multi-year deal with All Nippon Airways (ANA), a 5-star and Japan’s largest airline. The agreement made All Nippon Airways the official Japanese airline partner of the Dodgers.
That was followed by the Dodgers reaching a multi-year sponsorship agreement with Toyo Tires, Japan-based manufacturer and distributor located in Itami.
