The Los Angeles Dodgers look to continue their hot start to the 2024 season by completing a series sweep of their rival San Francisco Giants.
Tyler Glasnow is on the mound for his third start of the season, and so far, he’s been as advertised for the Dodgers. The staff ace has thrown 11 innings, giving up just three earned runs on four hits with a 2.45 ERA and 0.82 WHIP.
Glasnow’s strikeout numbers have been down with just eight, and his walk numbers are higher than he would like with five, but those should both trend in a positive direction moving forward.
Glasnow last took the ball for the Dodger Stadium opener against the St. Louis Cardinals, throwing six innings while giving up one run on two hits with five strikeouts and one walk.
The Dodgers face one of the Giants’ highly-regarded prospects in Kyle Harrison. The left-hander gave up two runs over six innings with six hits, five strikeouts and no walks in his season debut against the San Diego Padres.
Over his career, Harrison has thrown 40.2 innings with a 3.98 ERA and 1.13 WHIP with 40 strikeouts. He faced the Dodgers twice in 2023, throwing a combined 10.1 innings while giving up two earned runs on three hits with six strikeouts and three walks.
With a lefty on the mound, the Dodgers are utilizing some platoons as Miguel Rojas, Kiké Hernández and Chris Taylor all find themselves in the lineup with James Outman and Gavin Lux getting the night off.
Prior to the game, the Dodgers placed Jason Heyward on the 15-day injured list due to lower back tightness. Taylor Trammell, who was claimed off waivers on Tuesday, was added to the active roster.
