Spring Training Recap: Tyler Glasnow Shaky In Dodgers’ Tie With Angels

Tyler Glasnow fell short of reaching the targeted two innings in his Los Angeles Dodgers Spring Training debut, which ended in a 7-7 tie with the Los Angeles Angels at Tempe Diablo Stadium.

The tie is the Dodgers’ first of Cactus League play, which they started with back-to-back wins over the San Diego Padres.

Glasnow ran into early traffic in the first inning but was aided by Mookie Betts making a heads-up play to sneak behind Nolan Schanuel for a pivotal double play on a fly ball to right field.

But Brandon Drury’s leadoff single in the second inning led to the Angels taking a 1-0 lead when Jo Adell hit an RBI triple. Glasnow then retired Zach Neto for the second out of the inning, but that was his final batter faced.

In other notable pitching news for the Dodgers, Daniel Hudson turned in a scoreless inning. The relief appearance was Hudson’s first of the spring as he looks to make the Opening Day roster and return from a right MCL sprain that ended his 2023 season early and led to re-signing with the Dodgers on a Minor League contract.

After Andy Pages’ RBI double tied the game in the fourth inning, the Angels responded with a run in the bottom half and two more in the fifth. The Halos’ runs in the fifth inning came at the expense of Matt Gage, who was acquired as part of the trade that sent Caleb Ferguson to the New York Yankees.

Jose Ramos sparks Dodgers rally

Jose Ramos’ homer in the eighth inning wound up leading to a Dodgers rally that saw them take a 7-4 lead. However, their Minor League pitchers were unable to protect it and the Angels responded with three runs in the bottom of the eighth to knot the game up.
