Day three of the 2024 Los Angeles Dodgers Love L.A. Community Tour saw Emmet Sheehan, Michael Grove and Gavin Stone work at a Northridge Jack in the Box. Joe Kelly also had a similar experience at a Jack in the Box in Ontario during the same time.

The trio of pitchers in the San Fernando Valley were greeted by a line of fans, with some beginning to line up as early as 10:30 a.m. for the event that started at 1 p.m. It took more than an hour to get through the line before the group traveled to Carson for a senior prom.

Once the doors were opened at Jack in the Box, the main focus for the players was to give out free tacos, take photos and sign autographs, which included Sheehan signing a Pokémon card.

The event started with Sheehan and Stone greeting fans at the counter while Grove was working the drive-thru. However, all three took turns at different stations, which included making burgers and tacos, and taking orders.

“It’s a lot harder than I thought,” Stone told DodgerBlue.com. “I thought it was just throwing burgers together, but it’s more complicated than that.”

“I’m not very good folding the foil around the burger,” Grove added. “I wasn’t very good at that. It cost me a lot of time in the challenge.”

While preparing the burgers was the most difficult part for Stone and Grove, Sheehan found a different challenge working the fast food restaurant.

“I think the drive-thru was probably the most complicated part for me because it was getting a little hectic over there,” he said.

The three also held a competition for who could prepare a burger the quickest, which Sheehan took the crown for.

“Always fun to compete with these guys,” Sheehan said. “I think I was the only one that worked in a kitchen before today, so I’m pretty sure I had the leg up.”

“His burger wasn’t as good as mine though,” Stone jokingly interjected.

“Yeah, it was better,” Sheehan replied with a smile.

Although they faced different challenges and competed against each other, the final verdict on the day was similar: it was fun to have the new experience and see all the fans who came out.

“It was cool to come out here, see all the fans,” Stone said. “A lot of people came by, so it was fun. My first time working at a drive-thru, fast food, so it was a cool experience.”

“It was awesome,” Sheehan added. “Awesome to see everybody. Thanks to everybody for coming out and yeah, it was a great experience.”

“I think just working the drive-thru or up front, just seeing all the fans,” Grove said of his favorite part. “Some of them, I don’t know if they knew we were here or not. So just being out in the community and seeing people on a more personal level.”

Dodgers Love L.A. Community Tour continues Thursday

In the morning, Mookie Betts is hosting a financial literacy workshop at Dodger Stadium. Students from Panaroma and Fremont High Schools will be in attendance, as well as the Superintendent of Los Angeles Unified School District, Alberto M. Carvalho.

Later in the day, Tony Gonsolin and Hunter Feduccia will visit the North Central Animal Services Center to greet those who are looking to adopt a pet. Every adoption from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. will include a pet family photo with the two Dodgers players.
