MLB World Tour: Plans Canceled To Play Regular Season Games In Paris

As part of the 2024 MLB World Tour, regular-season games are being played in four countries outside of the United States and Canada this year.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres began the season with the Seoul Series — the first MLB games to ever be played in South Korea. Overall, the Seoul Series is just the ninth being played outside of North America in MLB history.

MLB is also hosting games in Mexico City and London this year. Additionally, the Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays played Spring Training games at Estadio Quisqueya in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; and the New York Yankees are going to Mexico City to face the Diablos Rojos del México of the Mexican League.

Although MLB has aggressively looked to expand the game internationally, they canceled plans to play games in Paris in 2025, via Bob Nightengale of USA Today:

MLB canceled plans to play regular-season games in Paris in 2025 when it couldn’t find a promoter to make the games profitable. There still are plans to have games in Tokyo, Mexico City and San Juan, Puerto Rico, in 2025, however.

Although their plans to play regular-season games in Paris next year fell through, it seems like a safe bet that MLB will eventually make its debut in France.

The league still intends to return to Mexico in 2025, in addition to playing regular-season games in Tokyo, Japan, and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Dodgers rumors: MLB games in Paris

The Dodgers reportedly were in negotiations multiple years ago to potentially play at the Stade De France in Paris during the 2025 regular season.

They since have found themselves playing in South Korea and are said to be on track for Opening Day 2025 in Tokyo.
