The Arizona Diamondbacks exceeded expectations this season and advanced to the playoffs for the first time since 2017 by holding onto the third Wild Card spot in the National League.

The Diamondbacks took care of business in the first round of postseason play by sweeping the Milwaukee Brewers to punch their ticket to the NL Division Series for a matchup with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The first two games of the NLDS were played at Dodger Stadium before the best-of-five shifted to Chase Field. Game 3 is Wednesday, and if necessary, the Diamondbacks would also host Game 4 the following day.

With the NLDS heading to Arizona this week, legendary rock band Guns N’ Roses moved their October 11 concert from Chase Field to the Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre in order to avoid a conflict.

“Guns N’ Roses send their congratulations to the Arizona Diamondbacks making it to the next round of the MLB playoffs,” the band said in a statement that was posted on their website.

Guns N’ Roses is in the middle of their “North America: Summer/Fall 2023” tour, which runs through Sunday, November 5. The band has 10 dates left, including two at the iconic Hollywood Bowl on November 1-2.

Ironically, Guns N’ Roses is from Los Angeles, with the band forming in 1985.

Diamondbacks weren’t going to block Chase Field pool

Prior to the NLDS beginning, Diamondbacks president and CEO Derrick Hall indicated the organization would not have prevented the Dodgers from possibly celebrating in the Chase Field pool.

“The rivalry was strong and thriving then, which is a good thing,” Hall recalled of the Dodgers’ pool party in 2013. “I think looking back it’s all in good fun. And it’s a completely different group of guys here on the other side as well.

“This place is special to me. I’ve got a history here. I grew up a Dodger fan, always wanted to work for the Dodgers. Was fortunate enough to be able to do that. To go from Vero Beach to L.A., and to work for so many different ownership groups here, including the O’Malleys, this place will always have a special spot in my heart. So it is all in good fun.

“Just coming back here and seeing everybody I worked with for so many years who are still here, that’s beautiful. You talk about stability, it’s everywhere you walk around in this historic place.

“But look, we know this team here, they’re so good, and year after year they proved if you’re going to go somewhere, you’ve got to go through them. And they’ve earned that. They have the right to celebrate however they want, wherever they want. They’ve certainly earned that opportunity.”
