The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled Victor González from Triple-A Oklahoma City and optioned Bryan Hudson ahead of their series opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday.
González returns for his third stint with the Dodgers where he has pitched to a 2-3 record with a 5.32 ERA IN 23.2 innings with 22 strikeouts.
Now in his third season with L.A., the 27-year-old has gone a combined 8-4 with a 3.52 ERA and 78 strikeouts to only 28 walks across 79.1 innings. During his rookie season in 2020, González was once of the club’s best receivers and played an important role in helping the club win the World Series, but he has not been able to replicate his success.
He last pitched for the Dodgers on July 2 against the Kanas City Royals before he was optioned the following day. He joins Caleb Ferguson and Alex Vesia as the third left-hander in the bullpen, but all three have experienced some inconsistency this season.
With OKC, González was 2-0 with a 2.60 ERA with 19 strikeouts in 17.1 innings across 17 games. He has pitched in 156 Minor League games (57 starts) and he is a combined 22-28 with a 4.26 ERA in 418 innings with 413 strikeouts.
Bryan Hudson optioned to Triple-A
Hudson was recalled on Sunday when Michael Grove was placed on the 15-day injured list. He pitched two innings in his stint with the Dodgers, allowing one run on two hits on Monday against the San Diego Padres. He has pitched to a 7.94 ERA with four strikeouts in three games for the Dodgers this season.
The 26-year-old made his MLB debut against the San Francisco Giants on June 17. Hudson was last with the Dodgers in July before getting optioned as the corresponding move to Yency Almonte returning from paternity leave.
The left-hander has found more success with OKC this year, going 5-0 with a 2.61 ERA with 66 strikeouts in 41.1 innings. Across 186 career Minor League games, Hudson is a combined 36-27 with a 4.23 ERA and 434 strikeouts in 498.1 innings.
