MiLB announced Los Angeles Dodgers prospect Nick Frasso was named the Minor League Pitcher of the Month in the Texas League for April of the 2023 season.

Frasso, who is pitching for the Double-A Tulsa Drillers, went 1-1 with a 1.23 ERA in five starts while giving up only 16 hits and five walks compared to 30 strikeouts over 22 innings. He additionally held hitters to a .203 batting average during the month he was recognized.

Frasso earned his first career victory during an April 25 start against the Arkansas Travelers, the Double-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners.

Frasso has quickly gained notoriety since being acquired by the Dodgers, which included being ranked in the Baseball Prospectus Top 101 prospects for the 2023 season.

The right-hander was one of nine Dodgers prospects to make the list, checking in at No. 79.

Baseball America also ranked Frasso as having the best fastball in the Dodgers farm system. MLB Pipeline ranked it as an elite 75 grade on the 20-80 scouting scale with triple-digit velocity and impressive movement on it.

Frasso could make his MLB debut at some point during the 2023 season if he continues on the current trajectory. But if not this year, he will surely see Major League time in 2024.

Frasso joined Andy Pages and Jorbit Vivas as the Drillers to win an award this season. The two position players were previously recognized as Players of the Week for the Texas League.

Pages was honored for the week of April 6-16 when he hit an excellent .393/.561/.750 over nine games. Vivas was named for the week of April 17-23 by batting .417 (10-for-24) with five doubles, three home runs and five RBI.

How did the Dodgers get Nick Frasso?

The 24-year-old was originally selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the fourth round of the 2020 MLB Draft out of Loyola Marymount University. He was traded to the Dodgers along with Alex De Jesus for Mitch White at the 2022 deadline.
