Dodgers Highlights: James Outman & Max Muncy Home Runs Against Cubs

The Los Angeles Dodgers bounced back from being shut out with a power display at Wrigley Field, provided by James Outman and Max Muncy, in a 9-4 win over the Chicago Cubs.

Whereas the Dodgers didn’t have a baserunner on Friday until the eighth inning, they loaded the bases with nobody out in the first. But only one run came of it, when J.D. Martinez made solid contact on a double play.

The Cubs had the same scenario against Dustin May in the bottom of the first inning, and also managed just one run.

The tie was short-lived as Outman continued his torrid start to the season with a go-ahead solo home run in the second inning. He later added an RBI single in the fourth inning that extended the Dodgers’ lead to 3-1.

Then with the Dodgers ahead by two runs in the seventh, Max Muncy temporarily broke the game open at 6-2 with a homer. Muncy added a solo shot in the ninth inning to give him 10 home runs on the season and nine in his past 12 games.

Outman joined Muncy in hitting a second homer and it gave him a first career four-hit game.

James Outman breaks Dodgers rookie record

Outman’s seven home runs are the most all-time by a Dodgers rookie for the months of March and April.
