Dodgers Vs. Giants Game Preview: Looking To Snap Losing Streak

After dropping three of four to the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Los Angeles Dodgers continue their road trip with the start of a three-game series against the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park.

The Dodgers enter play Monday with a 5-5 record, which is good for third place in the National League West. However, their run differential of +16 is the best in the division.

The Giants head into the matchup with a 4-5 record and are a half-game behind the Dodgers in the standings. L.A. won 15 of 19 head-to-head meetings against San Francisco last season.

Julio Urías looks to keep it rolling as he makes his third start of the year. He allowed five hits over six shutout innings in his last outing against the Colorado Rockies on April 4.

The left-hander is 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA, 1.65 FIP and 0.75 WHIP in 12 innings of work so far, striking out 12 batters and walking none. In his career against the Giants, Urías is 6-4 with a 2.12 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 9.4 strikeouts per nine across 106 frames (25 games, 19 starts).

Urías figures to be as of candidate as any to help stop the slide by Dodgers pitching, although the bullpen needs to get itself back on track as well.

The Giants counter with Logan Webb, who has gotten off to a rough start this season. He brings with him an 0-2 record, 6.55 ERA, 3.40 FIP, 1.36 WHIP and 13.1 strikeouts per nine in 11 innings pitched (two starts).

Webb allowed four runs in each of his outings against the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox. However, both of those appearances came on the road, and the right-hander has historically pitched better at home.

Webb has had mixed results against the Dodgers in his career, going 2-4 with a 4.44 ERA and 1.28 WHIP over 50.2 innings (10 starts).

Freddie Freeman enters play with a four-game hitting streak and has reached base safely in 30 consecutive games at Oracle Park. That’s the longest such streak by a visiting player in the stadium’s history. Max Muncy is third on the list, having reached base 26 games in a row at the Giants’ home ballpark.
