Adam Kolarek, Jake Reed and Gavin Stone were re-assigned to Minor League camp as part of the latest Los Angeles Dodgers Spring Training roster cuts.

It represented the smallest group sent to the Minors, as the Dodgers previously removed nine players from big league camp on two separate occasions. Kolarek, Reed and Stone remain eligible to appear in Cactus League games this week.

Kolarek has pitched in six games thus far, with his most recent appearance coming in Monday’s loss to the Colorado Rockies. The southpaw has turned in five scoreless appearances.

Kolarek returned to the Dodgers organization this past offseason on a Minor League contract. He went 5-0 with a 0.88 ERA, 3.20 FIP and 0.85 WHIP in 46 games over parts of two seasons with the Dodgers from 2019-2020.

Reed has also fared well this spring, allowing four runs (three earned) in 6.2 innings pitched over eight appearances. He had a string of not allowing an earned run in three consecutive appearances, but has given up one in each of his last two games.

Reed originally joined the Dodgers organization in July 2021 when he was signed to a Minor League contract after being released by the Los Angeles Angels. He was with the Dodgers for two weeks before getting designated for assignment and eventually claimed off waivers by the Tampa Bay Rays.

Reed remained with the Rays for just one week, as he was then claimed by the New York Mets. The right-hander began the 2022 season with the Mets but found his way back to the Dodgers organization on a waiver claim last July.

The Baltimore Orioles then claimed Reed from L.A. in September, only for the Boston Red Sox to follow suit the next month, and the Dodgers to reunite with Reed this past November. He was DFA’d for a second time in January and sent outright to Triple-A Oklahoma City after clearing waivers.

Stone is among the Dodgers pitching prospects who have impressed in camp. He’s made four scoreless relief appearances and is fresh off collecting eight strikeouts.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said the expectation is Stone will make his MLB debut at some point during the 2023 season.

Dodgers Spring Training roster breakdown

The Dodgers Spring Training roster now is at 47 players (23 pitchers; 24 position players), though that includes Daniel Hudson, Gavin Lux and Alex Reyes, each of whom are injured. Lux is expected to miss the entire 2023 season after having surgery for a torn ACL and LCL in his right knee.

Meanwhile, Hudson is likely going to be placed on the 15-day injured list and not be included on the Dodgers Opening Day roster. Reyes won’t return from right shoulder surgery until multiple months into the season.

The number of Dodgers non-roster invitees to Spring Training remaining in camp are three pitchers and 10 position players.
