Dodgers Highlights: Freddie Freeman’s Go-Ahead Hit, Six-Walk Inning Against Rockies

The Los Angeles Dodgers added to their single-season franchise wins record with their 110th victory of the season thanks to a three-run seventh inning against the Colorado Rockies.

Freddie Freeman started the scoring with a one-out RBI base hit in the bottom of the third, putting the Dodgers up 1-0, but the lead didn’t last long.

Ryan McMahon hit a leadoff home run in the fourth inning and Randal Grichuk put them up 4-1 on his three-run blast to center field.

That score remained until the seventh inning when everybody was walking in. Dinelson Lamet faced three hitters and walked the bases loaded before he was replaced by Chad Smith.

Like Lamet, Smith also couldn’t find his command as he walked Joey Gallo to make the score 4-2 and Austin Barnes to pull the Dodgers within one run.

Cody Bellinger then tied the game with a sacrifice fly, and Max Muncy added one more walk in the inning for good measure. The Dodgers didn’t capitalize on their one-out, bases-loaded situation, but it was enough to give them the momentum moving forward.

In the eighth, Trea Turner and Freeman singled to open the inning, which was followed by a walk from Trayce Thompson. Gallo then hit a sac fly to give the Dodgers a 5-4 lead. They added an insurance run when Bellinger singled to drive in Freeman.

Brusdar Graterol pitched the ninth inning and retired the side in order to earn his fourth save of the season.

Dodgers make National League history

With 110 victories, the Dodgers are the first National League team to reach that mark since the 1909 Pittsburgh Pirates. With one more win, they would set the NL win record for the live-ball era (since 1920), and become the second-winningest NL team of all time behind the 1906 Chicago Cubs team that won 116 games.
