The Los Angeles Dodgers had seven prospects receive recognition in MLB Pipeline’s 2022 Midseason Top 100 update, headlined by Diego Cartaya (No. 9) and Bobby Miller (No. 27).

Also on the list are Miguel Vargas (No. 44), Michael Busch (No. 45), Andy Pages (No. 69), Ryan Pepiot (No. 77) and Gavin Stone (No. 81).

Cartaya has seen time with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga and High-A Great Lakes this season, hitting a collective .259/.395/.519 with 21 doubles, 22 home runs and 71 RBI in 403 plate appearances (90 games).

Cartaya was one of three Dodgers representatives in the 2022 Futures Game at Dodger Stadium, along with Miller and Vargas.

Miller made the jump to Double-A Tulsa to begin the season and went 6-6 with a 4.45 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 11.6 strikeouts per nine in 91 innings pitched (20 games, 19 starts) prior to earning a promotion to Triple-A Oklahoma City. The right-hander is 1-1 with a 3.38 ERA over three starts for the Dodgers’ top affiliate.

Miller is one of the sport’s biggest risers as he began the season ranked as MLB Pipeline’s No. 57 prospect.

Vargas also has taken a big leap since the start of the 2022 season, when he entered as MLB Pipeline’s No. 94 ranked prospect. The 22-year-old hit .304/.404/.511 with 32 doubles, 17 home runs and 82 RBI over 113 games with Oklahoma City.

Vargas made his MLB debut in August, recording two hits in eight at-bats across two games and figures to receive more opportunities down the stretch as he was recalled once active rosters expanded.

Busch has split the 2022 season with the Drillers and OKC Dodgers, hitting a combined .273/.362/.873 with 29 doubles, 27 home runs and 91 RBI.

Pages has spent the entire year with the Drillers, batting .233/.341/.460 with 23 doubles, 23 home runs and 66 RBI.

Pepiot began the season with OKC and posted a perfect 8-0 record, 2.58 ERA and 1.08 WHIP in 80.1 innings pitched (16 games, 14 starts). He’s also made seven starts for the Dodgers, going 2-0 with a 4.02 ERA and 1.40 WHIP.

Stone split the 2022 campaign with the Loons and Drillers before getting promoted to Triple-A. He’s gone a combined 7-5 with a 1.45 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in 105.2 innings pitched (22 games, 21 starts).

Nationals wanted Cartaya, Miller & more Dodgers prospects for Soto

The Dodgers were believed to be a finalist for Juan Soto before the Washington Nationals traded him to the San Diego Padres. One report indicated they sought Cartaya, Miller and more prospects from L.A.
