The Kansas City Royals became the latest team to pay their respects to the late Vin Scully with a tribute video prior to facing the Los Angeles Dodgers in the series opener at Kauffman Stadium.

Royals broadcaster Ryan Lefebvre then presented Dodgers manager Dave Roberts with a bouquet of blue flowers at home plate.

Scully passed away on Aug. 2 at his home in Hidden Hills, Calif., at the age of 94. He was survived by five children, 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Since his death, Scully has been recognized by countless teams, organizations, celebrities, current and former players, broadcasters and fans alike.

Scully’s broadcast career with the Dodgers spanned 67 seasons, from Brooklyn to Los Angeles, and included multiple World Series titles and several awards and accolades. The latest of which was becoming the second recipient of the Baseball Digest Lifetime Achievement Award in April.

Despite the Dodgers being on the road facing the San Francisco Giants the time of Scully’s passing, he was celebrated at Oracle Park. Scully became the beloved voice of the Dodgers, but he famously grew up a New York Giants fan.

The Dodgers then held a pregame ceremony on their first day back at Dodger Stadium.

MLB Field of Dreams Game dedicated to Scully

When the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds played the 2022 MLB Field of Dreams Game at Dyersville, Iowa, Scully’s voice narrated the famous speech from the “Field of Dreams” film, which was played on the national broadcast.

His image was also on the video board as players stretched prior to first pitch, and Fox Sports shared a clip to celebrate the night along with a message that conveyed the Field of Dreams Game had been dedicated to Scully
