Phase 2 of 2022 MLB All-Star Game voting closes at 11 a.m. PT on Friday, and the Los Angeles Dodgers spent the past two days making a strong push for Mookie Betts and Trea Turner to win starting positions as finalists.
Coaches and teammates have been wearing shirts during batting practice that encourage fans to vote for Betts and Turner. Betts and Turner were the only Dodgers to advance from Phase 1 of voting.
Betts was on track to be in the National League lineup as the leading vote-getter through two updates, but he was overtaken by the Atlanta Braves’ Ronald Acuña Jr. in the final days.
The latest All-Star Game voting update from MLB had Betts on track to start in right field. It would represent his first time appearing in a Midsummer Classic since being traded to the Dodgers in February 2020.

Betts was voted into the 2021 All-Star Game but withdrew from participating due to nagging injuries. He recently returned from a fractured right rib and has not given any indication skipping the 92nd Midsummer Classic is under consideration.
Meanwhile, after leading in the initial voting updates, Turner closed the gap on Atlanta Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson during Phase 2 to pull into a dead heat.
Like with Betts, this year would represent Turner’s first All-Star Game as a member of the Dodgers. He’s in the midst of an MVP-caliber season and helped fill the void in the leadoff spot of the Dodgers lineup while Betts was on the 10-day injured list.
Dodgers pitchers likely to make All-Star Game
Tony Gonsolin not only figures to earn a first career All-Star selection, he is in the center of discussions to start at Dodger Stadium. He could be joined by at least one of Tyler Anderson, Clayton Kershaw and Julio Urías.
