Freddie Freeman returned to Truist Park last weekend for the first time as a visiting player with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and predictably was overcome by emotions several times.
Freeman, who spent his first 12 seasons with the Atlanta Braves, teared up during a press conference before the series opener and again on the field when presented with his 2021 World Series ring.

I’ve been going through this process of grieving and now I’m in the healing process and the moving-on process. … There needs to be closure. It’s time. I’m a Dodger. I’m a Dodger for the next six years and that’s where my focus lies.”
Freeman’s stance is certainly understandable as he expressed his desire to end his career in Atlanta. However, the organization ultimately decided to move on from their franchise legend, which opened the door for the Dodgers to sign him to a six-year contract.
