Since its inception in 2018, Jomboy Media has emerged as one of the most popular platforms for MLB players and fans. The company started with a YouTube show about the New York Yankees that was hosted by founder Jimmy O’Brien and partner Jake Storiale.

After taking off the following year, Jomboy Media raised $1 million from a long of investors that included Christian Yelich, Ian Happ and Trevor Plouffe.

According to Maury Brown of Forbes, Jomboy Media now has received an additional $5 million in financing from Connect Ventures, which is comprised of many current and former MLB players, including the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Trea Turner:

Jomboy Media, the popular multi-media company founded by Jimmy O’Brien, has reached an additional $5 million in financing fundraising that will allow the company to expand into additional sports avenues.

The investment came by way of Connect Ventures, a partnership with Creative Artists Agency (CAA) and global venture capital firm New Enterprise Associates (NEA). Additional investors with Connect Ventures include WWE, as well as Quinn Cook, Billy Crystal, Josh Hader, Alexis Ohanian, C.C. Sabathia, Noah Syndergaard, Karl-Anthony Towns, Trea Turner, Gabrielle Union, and Dwyane Wade. As part of the investment Adam Friedman, an Executive at CAA and Investor at Connect Ventures will also join the board of Jomboy Media.

The funding will be used to help Jomboy Media expand into other North American sports, as well as the development of original content for television and streaming platforms.

Furthermore, the company is looking to add marquee talent after striking a content partnership with YES Network earlier this year. Jomboy Media previously added Happ and Chris Rose to its talent roster.

Turner tried convincing Carlos Rodón to sign Dodgers

The Dodgers handed Carlos Rodón his first loss of the season with a 3-1 win over the San Francisco Giants earlier this week. Rodón got a chance to reunite with Turner, as the two are close friends from their time playing collegiately at North Carolina State.

Before signing a two-year contract with the Giants, Turner pitched him on the idea of playing together once again in L.A.
