The Los Angeles Dodgers won their fourth consecutive series against the San Diego Padres with a 10-2 victory in the rubber match at Petco Park on Sunday, led by the contributions from Cody Bellinger and Freddie Freeman.

L.A. got on the board early with Justin Turner’s sacrifice fly to drive in Mookie Betts in the first inning.

They added on two more in the third when Freeman hit his third home run of the season to increase their lead to 3-0. After he was back in the dugout, Freeman went over to his father, who was sitting next to the dugout, to give him a high-five.

That was all the Dodgers needed to win the game, but the lineup didn’t stop there. Bellinger hit his first home run of the game in the fourth inning to put them up by four.

They added a fifth run with a sacrifice fly from Chris Taylor with the bases loaded in the fifth inning to extend their lead to 5-1.

Then with two runners still on base, Bellinger made sure to bring them home with his second long ball of the day. After Bellinger hit his second homer, Gavin Lux was seen in the dugout giving him a long hug.

The Dodgers added two more in the sixth inning when Trea Turner reached on a fielder’s choice that allowed Austin Barnes to score, and Max Muncy grounded out to drive in Betts.

Kershaw strong but falls short of Dodgers history

Clayton Kershaw entered the day needing seven strikeouts to pass Don Sutton for most in Dodgers history. However, his slider didn’t have its usual consistency and Kershaw largely pitched to contact over his five innings of work.

Kershaw finished at three strikeouts through five innings pitched while allowing one run.

He should have another chance to set the record on Saturday against the Detroit Tigers at Dodger Stadium.
