The San Francisco Giants roster for the 2021 National League Division Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers features 14 position players and 12 pitchers.

It’s mostly a veteran group, with the exception of two rookie pitchers in Kervin Castro and Camilo Doval. Castro tossed 13.1 scoreless frames over 10 appearances in the regular season, and Doval posted a 3.00 ERA with 12.3 strikeouts per nine innings across 29 games.

“That’s the first guy I think of. He’s got a good arm,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said of Doval being a pitcher he isn’t overly familiar with. “It’s a cutter, it’s slider, it’s 97 to 100 (mph). He’s young and inexperienced, but he’s shown to pitch huge innings and they have shown that they trust him in leverage.”

In terms of surprise omissions, the Giants did not include Johnny Cueto on their NLDS roster. The 35-year-old went 7-7 with a 4.08 ERA, 4.05 FIP and 1.37 WHIP in 22 appearances during the regular season (21 starts).

San Francisco also is without Brandon Belt as he remains on the mend from a left thumb fracture.

Game 1 of the NLDS between the Giants and Dodgers is set for Friday evening at Oracle Park, San Francisco will send Logan Webb to the mound and is opposed by Walker Buehler, who makes his fifth career start in a Game 1.

The Giants took 10 of 19 games against the Dodgers this season and finished with a franchise-record 107 wins to claim their first NL West title since 2012.
