The Los Angeles Sports and Entertainment Commission is making a bid to earn the 2026 World Cup, and they have brought in a legend of the city to help them do it. LASEC announced their bid on Twitter with a pitch video narrated by Los Angeles Dodgers Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully.
“We are Los Angeles,” Scully said to start the video. “The global capital for stars, style, and champion.
“And by any name, one sport has captivated the city like no other. It’s where icons ignite fans, stars lift trophies, and where communities unite for club, for country and for each other.”
The video also featured Will Ferrell, who pitched for the Dodgers during Spring Training in 2015 as part of the “Ferrell Takes The Field” special put on by HBO to raise money for Stand Up To Cancer.

L.A. is already hosting a run of big events in the coming years, including the 2021 MLS All-Star Game, Super Bowl and MLB All-Star Game in 2022, 2023 College Football National Championship and 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
LASEC is a nonprofit organization officially designated by Los Angeles Tourism to attract, secure and support high-profile sports and entertainment events in the city.
They recently hosted the 2021 Dodgers All-Access event at Dodger Stadium that featured part-owner Peter Guber, manager Dave Roberts, Spanish-language broadcaster Jaime Jarrín, Matt Beaty, Julio Urias, Mickey Hatcher, Manny Mota, Chase Utley and Steve Garvey, among others.
Scully a favorite narrator
Scully has become a popular choice to narrate videos over the years.
He has recently narrated the 1981 World Series celebration, Tommy Lasorda’s obituary and a tribute to Kobe and Gianna Bryant.
Scully also announced the Dodgers would host the 2020 All-Star Game, however, that ended up being pushed to 2022 due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
