2018 NLCS: Dodgers Can Deny Brewers Fans Free Burgers At George Webb

The two best teams in the National League are set to go at it beginning Friday night, with the Milwaukee Brewers hosting the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1 of the NL Championship Series at Miller Park.

Both teams are coming in extremely hot, but the Brewers, in particular, are playing their best baseball of the season. They have not lost a game since Sept. 22, which comes out to 11 wins in a row.

Another on Friday night would make it an even dozen, which is significant in the state of Wisconsin as that means that George Webb restaurants would be required to give out free hamburgers to fans, via Meg Jones of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

A victory on Friday would mean 12 Brewers wins in a row. And pretty much everyone in Milwaukee knows what that means: Free hamburgers at George Webb! “We’re definitely making plans if they win Friday,” said George Webb Vice President Ryan Stamm. “The wheels are in motion.”

The 24-hour restaurant chain has had to honor this promotion on one other occasion in April 1987 when the Brewers won 13 in a row.

Los Angeles looks to play spoiler though as they send ace Clayton Kershaw to the mound hoping to steal Game 1 on the road. Kershaw tossed a gem against the Atlanta Braves in his first postseason start in 2018, pitching eight shutout innings while allowing just two hits.

The Dodgers come into the series with the experience, now reaching the NLCS in three straight seasons and four of the last six.

Milwaukee, on the other hand, is appearing in just third second LCS since 1982, with the other coming in 2011. Los Angeles won four of the seven regular-season matchups between the two teams.
