David Price Proposes Dodgers Trade Ideas To Andrew Friedman

As the MLB Trade deadline approaches looms on Friday, the Los Angeles Dodgers are actively looking at all areas of the market, specifically for pitching, whether for the starting rotation or bullpen.

In 2018, Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman lost his right-hand man Farhan Zaidi to the San Francisco Giants and never hired a replacement for the vacant general manager position.

Now, David Price is trying to fill that role as he has proposed various trades to Friedman as the club looks to add more talent, but they often come as more of a joke than serious help.

“He laughed and we just kind of talked about it. We have known each other for a very long time and have a very good relationship,” Price said about his proposals to Friedman. “There’s nothing we can’t say to one another. So he laughs, we talk about it and he’ll get back to me.”

Price has also jokingly advocated in the clubhouse about a trade for New York Mets’ ace Jacob deGrom, but said that isn’t a player he talked to Friedman about.

“I think everybody kind of sees there’s opportunities to get guys from different teams that are going to be sellers or whatever you want to call it. There’s always pieces you can add to make your team better, and I think everybody in the clubhouse knows and understands that,” Price said.

“So we definitely talk about it. I mean, I said go and get deGrom. That would be a huge piece. And he rakes. I think he’s hitting .350 or whatever it is, and he’s a pretty good pitcher as well. There’s always pieces you can add that are going to make the team better.”

Despite the joke trade proposals, Price said he did talk to Friedman about “one guy specifically” but did not name who it was.

“I would love to see a couple guys come here,” Price added.

Price on other side of trades

While the deadline can be exciting for some, Price said it isn’t always such for the players who are involved in trades.

“On the individual side, I guess it kind of depends on the different situations,” Price said.

“Knowing that if you’re involved in a trade where somebody is trying to get you, it probably means you’re on a team that’s not doing as well as the team that’s going to trade for you. So you know you’re probably going to have a chance to play October baseball, and that’s why we’re all here.”
