Dodgers Remove Trevor Bauer Bobblehead Night From Promotional Schedule

The Los Angeles Dodgers’ big offseason addition was adding the reigning National League Cy Young Award winner Trevor Bauer to a rotation that already included Clayton Kershaw, Walker Buehler and Julio Urias.

Bauer’s tenure with the Dodgers got off to a solid start on the field, but that all came crashing down in recent weeks when he was accused of sexual assault.

While Bauer denies the claims, Major League Baseball decided to put him on seven-day administrative leave as they and the police continue to investigate the matter. Bauer’s seven days would’ve been up on Friday, but MLB decided to extend it for another week with approval from the Players Association.

Given the severity of the accusations, it appears the Dodgers have already begun to distance themselves from Bauer. While they can’t release him just yet with an ongoing investigation, Bill Shaikin of the L.A. Times is reporting that the Dodgers have removed his Bobblehead Night from their promotional schedule as well as all of his merchandise from the team stores:

The Dodgers have removed a Trevor Bauer bobblehead night from their promotional schedule this season.

The Bauer bobblehead promotion had been set for Aug. 19. The Dodgers also pulled Bauer merchandise from their online store. In a statement, the team said it “did not feel it was appropriate” to stage the bobblehead night and sell the merchandise “while investigations continue by Major League Baseball and the Pasadena Police Department.”

It remains to be seen if the Dodgers will replace Bauer’s bobblehead with another player on Aug. 19, but this season’s bobblehead promotions already include Justin Turner, Cody Bellinger, Max Muncy, Walker Buehler, Mookie Betts, Corey Seager, Julio Urias, Fernando Valenzuela and Tommy Lasorda.

The woman accusing Bauer filed for a restraining order and a hearing is currently set for July 23, so he and the Dodgers will likely know more about the situation and proceed accordingly from there, as well as when the investigations conclude.

Stewart skipping Dodgers’ 1981 World Series celebration because of Bauer

Former Dodgers pitcher Dave Stewart recently announced that he is planning to skip the Dodgers’ 40th-anniversary celebration of their 1981 World Series because of the Bauer situation.

Stewart had heavy criticism for the way the organization has handled everything even though their hands are tied with MLB taking the lead on all domestic violence and sexual abuse instances.
