As expected based on prior updates, the Los Angeles Dodgers had five players advance to Phase 2 of voting for the 2021 MLB All-Star Game. The group is comprised of Max Muncy, Gavin Lux, Justin Turner, Mookie Betts and Chris Taylor.
In somewhat of a surprise, Corey Seager fell out of the top three vote-getters among National League shortstops despite last appearing there only six days ago. Seager slipped to fourth, behind the San Diego Padres’ Fernando Tatis Jr., Chicago Cubs’ Javy Baez, and Brandon Crawford of the San Francisco Giants.
Muncy continued to pace NL first basemen, while Lux and Turner were in third place at second base and third base, respectively. Betts and Taylor placed fourth and fifth among outfielders.
The top three vote-getters at each infield position for the NL and American League, plus the top nine outfielders advanced from Phase 1 of 2021 All-Star Game voting. Phase 2 — with voting totals reset — begins Monday at 9 a.m. PT and runs through 11 a.m. on Thursday.
Fans can continue voting at MLB.com/vote — or on Google by searching “MLB All-Star vote” or “Vote” along with a player’s name. You can vote daily on both platforms, including once per day on MLB.com.
The Houston Astros lead all teams with seven All-Star Game finalists.
Starters for the 91st Midsummer Classic will be announced Thursday at 6 p.m. PT, live on ESPN. Full All-Star Game rosters will then be unveiled Sunday, July 4 at 2:30 p.m.
The 2021 MLB All-Star Game will be played at Coors Field on Tuesday, July 13. It will air live on Fox, with first pitch scheduled for 4:05 p.m. PT.
