ESPN Adds 2 Games From Dodgers Homestand For National Broadcasts

ESPN has picked up two games from the current Los Angeles Dodgers homestand for national broadcasts, beginning with a Sunday Night Baseball telecast of their matchup with the Chicago Cubs.

As a result, the start time for the finale of the four-game set at Dodger Stadium was changed to 4:08 p.m. PT. In addition to ESPN, the game will be carried on ESPN Radio, ESPN Deportes and the ESPN App.

Matt Vasgersian will handle play-by-play duties alongside analyst Alex Rodriguez and reporter Buster Olney.

The Cubs, who have been one of baseball’s biggest surprises this season, swept the Dodgers in a three-game series at Wrigley Field last month. That included taking both games of a day-night doubleheader on May 4 after the series opener was rained out.

Making the sweep all the more impressive was that Chicago faced Clayton Kershaw, Trevor Bauer and Walker Buehler in three consecutive games. All but Kershaw, who was tabbed with a loss, received no-decisions.

The Cubs won the final two games via walk-off, as David Bote and Anthony Rizzo hit game-winning singles on back-to-back nights. The series finale saw the Dodgers take four separate leads, including when Max Muncy hit an RBI double off the wall in left-center field in the top of the 10th, but were unable to avoid a loss.

Sunday will be only the second time this season the Dodgers were selected to appear on ESPN’s flagship broadcast. The network has not yet announced games for the second half of the 2021 schedule.

ESPN adds Giants-Dodgers game

After facing the Cubs, the Dodgers welcome the National League West-leading San Francisco to Chavez Ravine for a two-game set.

ESPN will broadcast the series finale on Tuesday as part of their ‘Monday Night Baseball’ programming. Dave Flemming and Jessica Mendoza will be on the call.
