Dodgers Roster: Brusdar Graterol Reinstated, Optioned To Oklahoma City

The Los Angeles Dodgers reinstated Brusdar Graterol from the 10-day injured list and immediately optioned him to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Graterol had already been with the affiliate on a rehab assignment this past week. He appeared in two games during that span, collecting three strikeouts over a pair of perfect innings.

Graterol had been on the IL since April 18 due to right forearm inflammation. That historically can be a precursor to a more serious injury for a pitcher, but the Dodgers avoided that with Graterol.

“There was no incident. It came up negative, which was great news,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said of the MRI results last month. “So now we’re just kind of treating it as such.”

Graterol’s progression was a bit slow as he continued to receive treatment before throwing a bullpen session at Minute Maid Park late last month.

Now that the 22-year-old is officially a member of the OKC Dodgers roster, rather than just on rehab, it’s unclear when he may join L.A.

Graterol began the season on the IL and has only appeared in three games thus far for the Dodgers in 2021.

Dodgers welcoming back Gonsolin

After dealing with a rash of injuries over the first two months of the season, the Dodgers have made progress toward getting back to full health. Cody Bellinger and Zach McKinstry returned last weekend, and Jimmy Nelson and AJ Pollock were activated Thursday.

Next on the horizon is Tony Gonsolin, who will start during the Pittsburgh Pirates series. Gonsolin made three starts for Oklahoma City while on rehab assignment. He’s expected to take hold of the fifth spot in the starting rotation that was vacated by Dustin May requiring season-ending Tommy John surgery.

Gonsolin was included on the Dodgers’ Opening Day roster but as a member of the bullpen. He’s yet to pitch in a game for the club this season.
