The Los Angeles Dodgers have gone more than one month without Cody Bellinger, and Zach McKinstry has been out the past three weeks, and now both players are on a similar timeline while rehabbing at the team’s Camelback Ranch alternate training site.
Bellinger has been in a bit of a holding pattern while waiting for the hairline fracture in his left fibula to fully heal. He recently was said to be running at roughly 60%, but posted another clip of a workout of more progress.
“He was moving. I got that he got to like 19 mph. It was effortless, he wasn’t compensating,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. “I would say right there, what I saw was about 80%.”

Next for Bellinger is to get swings in on Saturday and potentially advance to joining a Minor League affiliate. “Hopefully some time later next week we’ll send him out on rehab,” Roberts said.
How long Bellinger spends on his rehab assignment will be dictated by both performance and health. “He still needs to feel good to pick up once he gets here,” Roberts noted. “I just really don’t want to put a number on it yet.”
Bellinger has only appeared in four games so far this season, going 4-for-19 with one double, one triple, two RBI and two walks.
McKinstry step ahead
McKinstry’s recovery from a strained right oblique has him slightly ahead of Bellinger and also on the verge of beginning a rehab assignment. “He’ll go out on Sunday or Monday and join that OKC team,” Roberts said.
“It’ll be a week, give or take a few games on the backside.”
McKinstry was a spark for the Dodgers prior to getting injured, and still is tied for sixth on the team with 14 RBI despite last playing April 22.
