The Los Angeles Dodgers (13-3) saw their season-high eight-game winning streak finally come to an end on Sunday in San Diego, and now they will head north to Seattle for the opener of a two-game set against the Mariners (10-6) on Monday. The Dodgers fell to the Padres 5-2 in the finale of a three-game series as -128 road favorites, and they opened as -190 favorites for the first game of this series, with Dustin May set to toe the rubber.

May (1-0, 1.74 ERA) has looked good in each of his first two outings for Los Angeles, allowing just two runs and nine hits in 10.1 innings while walking three batters and striking out 14. The Dodgers won both games even though he was pulled following 4.1 innings in the second one last Wednesday versus the Colorado Rockies after giving up two runs and seven hits.

Seattle will start southpaw Justus Sheffield (0-1, 4.91 ERA) opposite May, and he rebounded from a rough first start in his second last Tuesday. Sheffield surrendered two runs and three hits in six innings before walking away with a no-decision in an eventual 4-3 victory at the Baltimore Orioles after the Chicago White Sox scored six runs (four earned) on him in his first outing.

The Mariners are coming off a 7-2 win over the Houston Astros as +120 home underdogs at online betting sites on Sunday after losing the previous game 1-0 as +115 underdogs. They have won four of their last five games along with seven of nine since starting the campaign at 3-4 through their first seven.

On Tuesday, Seattle will send another lefty to the mound in Marco Gonzales (1-1, 8.22 ERA), who was expected to be the team’s ace this year. Like Sheffield, Gonzales has pitched much better recently, going five strong innings in his last start on Thursday to earn his first victory of the season. He gave up two runs and three hits to the Orioles with two walks and eight strikeouts.

Los Angeles will counter with Julio Urias (2-0, 3.86 ERA), who had his worst start last time out, but his team still managed to win. Urias surrendered five runs and seven hits to the Rockies in six innings of a 7-5 victory last Thursday. The Dodgers have won all three of his starts.
