When the Los Angeles Dodgers faced the Colorado Rockies in their Opening Series, each of the first three games included a rarity that largely was chalked up to playing at Coors Field.
On Opening Day, it was Justin Turner seeing Raimel Tapia initially make a catch at the fence in left field, which led to crossing Cody Bellinger on the bases. Because of that, Bellinger was only awarded an RBI single instead of a two-run home run.
The following night, Trevor Bauer had a no-hitter through six innings, but the story wound up being a cat running onto the field. The next day, a plexiglass installed at the end of the Rockies’ dugout prevented Max Muncy from making a catch in foul territory. Then later in the game there was a delay as the fountains in center field remained on as Gavin Lux stepped into the batter’s box.
The Dodgers and Rockies added to their strange history this season on Wednesday night when Turner hit a home run that landed in a fan’s nachos, sending cheese flying.

“I’m sure it was not a $2 plate of nachos,” Turner said after the game. “So I wanted to replace them for the guy.”
Turner’s home run was reviewed before being upheld and extending the Dodgers’ lead to 3-0. He sent the fan new nachos, and a Dodgers sweatshirt was also provided.
It was fitting that Turner hit a ball into the Home Run Seats, as he recently called them his favorite spot to watch a game at Dodger Stadium. That was apparent during Summer Camp last year when Turner came out of an exhibition game and took a seat just behind the wall in left-center field.
Turner’s early home run surge
Although Turner has a history of not hitting home runs before the calendar turns to May, his blast on Wednesday marked a third so far this season.
