As the Los Angeles Dodgers get set to welcome back fans to Dodger Stadium, the team recently announced an assortment of policies and procedures for the 2021 regular season.

Looking to maximize fan safety amid the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Dodger Stadium parking lots now will only open 1.5 hours prior to first pitch. Stadium gates will open one hour before the start of the game.

What’s more, parking must be purchased in advance. Fans no longer will have the option to do so at the stadium gates.

Another change is that Dodger Stadium and its surrounding parking lots are now smoke free. The policy extends to the use of electronic cigarettes and smokeless tobacco products on the property.

The Dodgers begin the regular season with back-to-back road series before their home opener against the Washington Nationals on April 9.

At present time the club is permitted host approximately 11,000 fans per home game. However, L.A. County is inching closer to reaching the orange tier with respect to coronavirus cases and hospitalizations dropping, which would allow the Dodgers to increase to 33% capacity of Dodger Stadium — or roughly 18,500 fans.

Dodger Stadium bag policy

Only clear bags will be permitted with a maximum size of 12”x12”x6” (the size of a one-gallon freezer bag). Bags, backpacks, coolers, large purses and the sort are no longer permitted at Dodger Stadium. The exception being bags carried for medical reasons or manufactured diaper bags that accompany infants and young children.

Additional measures Dodgers are taking

Among other health and safety protocols the Dodgers are taking, includes all tickets being scanned from mobile devices at Dodger Stadium entrances, ensuring touchless entry.

Hand sanitizing stations have been added through the ballpark and additional staff will be present for cleaning high-touch areas. Plexiglass dividers have also been added to information kiosks and other areas of interaction.

Furthermore, face coverings will be required for all fans ages 2 years old and above. Fans are permitted to pull down their face covering only when eating or drinking in their ticketed seats.

Neck gaiters, bandanas and masks with valves are not considered appropriate face coverings.
