The Los Angeles Dodgers received contributions from both of their catchers and hung on for a 4-3 win over the Chicago White Sox. With that the Dodgers swept this year’s Cactus League meetings against their Camelback Ranch co-tenant.

After the Dodgers fell into a 1-0 deficit, Will Smith tied the game with a leadoff home run against Lucas Giolito in the second inning. Then in the third, Austin Barnes delivered a go-ahead double with two outs to score Gavin Lux from first base.

Walker Buehler protected that lead as he navigated his way through the scheduled four innings of work. The White Sox had a runner reach in the third and and put two on in the fourth. Buehler finished with five strikeouts and just an unearned run allowed on five hits.

His fastball velocity was 94 to 96 mph, indicating it remains a work in progress as Buehler has recognized after his outings.

He was followed by Kenley Jansen, who added to what’s been an impressive spring. Jansen struck out the side in the fifth inning and has fanned nine of 16 batters faced over five relief appearances. “I know what I’m capable of,” Jansen said after his latest dominant effort.

Corey Knebel and Scott Alexander added to the encouraging pitching performances with a scoreless inning each.

L.A. provided insurance in the eighth inning when Ryan Noda was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Rangel Ravelo followed that by driving in a run on a single into left field.

That proved key as Ryan Pepiot surrendered a home run and allowed a second run to score in the ninth inning. He was removed after hitting Jose Abreu with a pitch to load the bases. Enny Romero was then summoned out of the bullpen to finish out the win.

Next for Dodgers

The Dodgers play another afternoon game Thursday as they will be on the road to face the Arizona Diamondbacks. David Price is listed as the probable in what would be his first start and third overall game this spring.
