Dodgers News: Dave Roberts Feels ‘Considerably Better’ Going Into Off Day Following Sweep Of Padres

With their 7-3 victory over the San Diego Padres on Sunday, the Los Angeles Dodgers successfully completed their first sweep of the month in addition to regaining momentum and hope as the calendar inches closer to September.

The impressive showing over the Padres is just what the Dodgers needed at a crucial point in their season as they previously had dropped 10 of their last 14 games while falling to third place in the National League West.

Entering Monday’s off day on a positive note, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts believes his group of players are in a much more favorable spot as opposed to last Thursday’s off day, when the club was reeling from being swept by the St. Louis Cardinals, as seen on SportsNet LA:

“Considerably better. The other one you hope is the floor and you can kind of build on and there’s nowhere else to go but up. Right now, I think this is something where there’s a lot of good things that happened in this series and hopefully we can continue to build on.”

As Roberts points out, the Dodgers will attempt to build on their current three-game winning streak with continued success as the regular season draws to a close.

With 31 games left, the Dodgers remain in the thick of the National League postseason race and find themselves within striking distance of both the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies in the division.

Los Angeles trails first-place Arizona and second-place Colorado by a mere 2.5 games and 1.5 games, respectively, with a combined 13 head-to-head meetings still to take place over the final month of play.

The club looks to keep up their winning ways when they resume play on Tuesday, in the opener of a brief two-game Interleague series against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Park in Arlington.
